Recycling & Disposal Resource Guide

Your municipality doesn't have an appliance recycling program? Can't make it to one of our household chemical collection events? Need to dispose of some hazardous products during our off-season or have items that we can't take? No problem!

You can still do the right thing for the environmnent by utilizing our Recycling & Disposal Resource Guide. It provides extensive information on how to properly recycle or dispose of many items year-round!

Pharmaceutical Collections

Pharmaceuticals and their proper disposal represent a growing health concern. Improper disposal can lead to contamination of drinking water, accidental poisonings and overdoses, and the abuse of prescription drugs by minors. A recent article from the Modern Medicine Network provides an excellent overview of the problem.

To help address this issue, the SW PA HHW Task Force held our first pharmaceutical collection on May 15th in Hampton Township. The event was such a success that we have decided to hold a fall pharmaceutical collection in Allegheny County - and it will be open to any resident of PA!
Tentative date and location: October 2010 in the South Hills area. Finalized information TBA.

If your municipality, company or organization is interested in sponsoring a pharmaceutical collection, please contact the Pennsylvania Resources Council at 412-488-7452.
