Get Involved

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are an essential part of each and every HHW collection event, and we need your help to continue our program!

What does a volunteer do?

As a HHW collection event volunteer, you will:

Participate in a brief training session prior to the start of your event
Perform tasks such as directing traffic, taking surveys, handing out educational materials- and much more!

PLEASE NOTE THAT VOLUNTEERS WILL NOT HANDLE HHW OR UNLOAD VEHICLES

Volunteers can work full or half-day shifts:

Full day shift: 7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Approximate, end of shift may be earlier)
Morning shift: 7:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Afternoon shift: 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

If you would like to volunteer for a 2007 Task Force collection event, or your organization would like to be a sponsor and/or participate on the SW PA HHW Task Force, please e-mail Michael Stepaniak or call him at 412-488-7452.

If your county would like to discuss the possibility of hosting an HHW event, please contact us!

2008 Volunteer Appreciation Program

The SW PA HHW Task Force realizes the importance of volunteers. Without your help, we would not be able to hold ANY collection events. We would like to sincerely thank all of our past volunteers for their contributions.

To show our appreciation, we have revised our volunteer program for the 2008 season. All volunteers will now receive the following free of charge:

Breakfast and lunch
SW PA HHW Task Force t-shirt
$10.00 gift card
Disposal of HHW (up to 5 gallons)
A chance to win exciting items that have been donated by local organizations
Most importantly, that warm fuzzy feeling that comes from helping a good cause!

The SW PA HHW Task Force is a project of the Pennsylvania Resources Council, a registered 501 (c) (3) and one of the oldest non-profit environmental organizations in the Commonwealth.

The SW PA HHW Task Force is always seeking funding from corporate, foundation and individual sources so that we may continue to provide safe and economical disposal of HHW materials to residents throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.
